LAPP Tannehill hires Erik Peterson as Senior Accountant to manage financial records, ensure compliance, and support strategic financial planning.

What are past positions you've held in your career? And what skills/experience do you bring to this position?
I have 15 years of accounting experience, and 4 years of experience of working with inventory from the accounting perspective. 

What’s your favorite part about working in your field?
My favorite part is the variety in accounting, working with different internal and external teams, and being involved down in the accounting details up through the reporting process. 

What’s a new skill you’re hoping to learn or improve in this role?
I’ve worked with inventory in the past in the fitness industry and I am hoping to learn and grow more in this area!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? What are your hobbies/passions?
Currently I have 5 children that are 7 years old and under, so currently my hobbies are spending time with them, and drinking lots of caffeine lol.

Do you have a favorite book, movie, or TV show at the moment?
Lately its been the works of CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien. Ive been a fan of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit for years. This year I’ve been reading CS Lewis’ book The Screwtape Letters and reading through and watching the Chronicles of Narnia with my kids which has been a lot of fun.   

Do you have a hidden talent or skill you’d like to share?
Strangely, I built combat robots when I was in high school. I had a 250lb robot that won 1st place at a local competition. There was something very satisfying to coming up with an idea, making it come to life, and then sending it to do battle. If anybody is looking to start a team, let me know!

What's the most unique item on your desk or in your workspace?
I have the Lego bonsai tree on top of my cabinet. It looks good and doesn’t need much maintenance!

What's a hidden gem (restaurant, vacation spot, park, shop, online store, etc.) that you think more people should know about?
Years ago I was able to visit Turkey and Israel on tourist and study trips, and when it comes to food in the Twin Cities I think the Black Sea restaurant in St. Paul is a hidden gem for authentic Mediterranean (Turkish) food. I love the gyro and shawarma options there.
