Single core wire for internal connections

Hook-up wire (also known as lead wire) is a common single core (i.e. one copper conductor of solid or stranded construction) wire used in many different applications for internal electrical connections such as electronic equipment, control panels, appliance wiring, transformers, motors, and other applications.

Hook-up wire can be designed and manufactured in many different categories (e.g. PVC wire, PTFE wire, etc.) based upon insulation type and application requirements such as temperature, voltage, chemical resistance and abrasion resistance amongst others. This wire can be further classified by various industry standards including numerous UL standards or MIL-spec standards in the U.S. or one of the <HAR> harmonized European standard (e.g. H05V-K).
