LAPP Tannehill Hires Quality Manager

LAPP Tannehill has hired a new Quality Manager at our headquarters in Savage, MN. Welcome Jerry Austin, QEHS Manager, to the team!

Where did you go to college and what did you major in?
I attended CSP – Concordia University, St. Paul. My major was Physics and Mathematics.

What are past positions you've held in your career? And what skills/experience do you bring to this position?
I have been a Quality Manager throughout my career. I bring leadership, in-depth knowledge of the Toyota Production System, and a variety of problem solving skills.

What’s something new you’re hoping to learn in this role?
I am excited to learn the Wire and Cable business. In a previous role I worked at a fastener distribution company and I am seeing many similarities between the two business models.

What’s your favorite part about working in your field?
Every day there is something new. Either I am learning something new about products, or how we do business, or being able to solve new issues that affect our customers. It is a lot of variety.

If you could switch careers for a day, what would you do?
A musician.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Spending time with friends and family.

What are your hobbies/passions?
I am interested in science and have followed the U.S. Space Program (and now Boeing and Space-X) for years.

Do you have a favorite book, movie, or TV show at the moment?
As I get older, I find myself watching more and more METV.

What’s something surprising about you that most people wouldn’t guess?
I have maintained my motorcycle license since I was 16 years old.

Do you have a hidden talent or skill you’d like to share?
I am a juggler.

What is one thing that motivates you every day?
Making a positive difference with my co-workers and customers.

If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?
Take one day, and one step, at a time and set goals to achieve success.
