Join us in welcoming Elvie Hernandez to the LAPP Tannehill team! She’s our new Outside Sales representative to manage accounts in Northern California.


Where are you from and where do you live now?
I was born in Philippines and migrated in United States when I was 16.  My family stayed and lived in Northern California since we migrated, but we moved to different cities as we find a permanent home to live in.  After getting married, my husband and I decided to raise our four children in Oakdale, CA.  We’ve lived in the same city for over 23 years now.

Pets/Family?
I have 4 lovely children…two boys (eldest and youngest) and two girls (middle children). My eldest, who is in the Army for 10 years now, is married and has a toddler. My daughter is married to a Marine and just had a baby girl a month ago. I also have another daughter who is in the Navy that’s been in the service for almost 6 years now. My youngest son whom we call, Mooch, just graduated High School and soon will be going to Southern Oregon University for college on a wrestling and academic scholarship. My children loved pets growing up and we’ve had 9 of different kinds at one point but now, we only have 2 doves and 3 dogs left (Yogi, Cali, & Puma) that we care for.

What are your hobbies?
Traveling is one of my favorite hobbies and tropical destinations are a must go to places.

What are your favorite and/or recommended books, movies, tv series, or podcasts?
I usually am not a fan of watching TV but when I came across “Heartland,” I got completely drawn into it.  It’s a great TV series that I now follow and recommend watching.  As for movies, I’ve always loved Disney and Pixar movies especially fantasy princess movies like, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Moana, Snow White, Mulan, Frozen, etc… I also enjoy superhero movies like, Avengers, Superman, Spiderman, Batman, etc… Must-see movies of today are Guardians of the Galaxy and Fast X.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was still little, I dreamt of being a doctor one day but when we migrated here in the US, my perspective in life changed. Instead, I wanted to be more of a traveler to explore and see the world and not be contained in one place for work.  Sales gave me that opportunity.

Where did you go to college and what did you major in?
I attended different colleges as we moved residence from one city to the other, keeping a full-time job to make ends meet while going to college as part-time.  My focus of study was Business Management and minored in Accounting. My wish is to continue school and attain my bachelor’s degree someday.

What are past positions you've held in your career? And what skills/experience do you bring to this position?
After graduating High School, I held an Accounts Receivable position at Bay Associates, a custom wire and cable manufacturer and a cable assembly turnkey.  It’s where I excelled and started my career in Sales from Customer Service to Accounts Manager for over 14 years.  My career in Sales continued at Coast Wire, also a custom wire and cable manufacturer, as a Territory Sales Manager for another 6 years until it was acquired by Alpha Wire, another wire and cable manufacturer.  I was with Alpha Wire for 5 years, in which 3 of those years as a District Sales Manager and 2 years as an OEM/Contract Manufacturer Manager. With the array of experiences in the wire and cable industry I’ve acquired and gained throughout the years, I bring multiple skills, such as R&D, Product Development, Sales Engineering, New Business Development, Product Design, Account Management, Customer Relations, Key Account Management, Strategic Planning, Business Development, Customer Service, Negotiation, Medical Devices, Product Marketing, CRM, Sales Process, Customer Retention, Purchasing, Contract Negotiation, Project Management, Trade Shows, Product Management, Cross-functional Team Leadership, Pricing, International Sales, Direct Sales, Solution Selling, Product Launch, Competitive Analysis, Forecasting, Sales Presentations, Key Account Development, and Supply Chain Management, to this new position as LAPP Tannehill’s new NorCal Sales Representative. 

What motivates you to do better in your personal and professional life?
What motivates me to do better in my personal and professional life are my family, positive friends and colleagues, and new people I meet with positive outlook in life whom I am be able to look up to mentor me to continue learning and push me to do better each day.

If you could give your younger self advice, what would it be?
If I could give my younger self some advice, I would tell myself to never give up on dreaming and never stop believing that God is always in control.

What are you excited about at LAPP Tannehill?
Coming in with manufacturing and channel management experience, what I’m excited about at Lapp Tannehill is the fact that I’ll be able to expand my experience in distribution by being on the other side of the wire and cable business spectrum and develop new skill and mind sets on supply chain.  With Lapp Tannehill’s multiple sources and different product offerings from widely known manufacturers, as well as its ability to provide on-time deliveries, excite me because I can see future account growth sustainability and customer retention.
