Lapp Logistics Center Provides Scalability & Faster Shipping

LAPP Tannehill is proud to announce the opening of a new wire and cable distribution center in Indianapolis, Indiana that will provide local and regional service to the major industrial clusters located in Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Kentucky as well as the broader eastern and southeastern United States. This newest location will complement our existing national distribution network in Minneapolis, Houston, and Las Vegas.

As an operating affiliate of LAPP, LAPP Tannehill will be co-located in LAPP’s new, state-of-the-art Siegbert E. Lapp Logistics Center in Brownsburg, Indiana (west metro area of Indianapolis). The center is dedicated to the late Siegbert E. Lapp - a passionate entrepreneur, courageous visionary, and inspiring inventor who was the former chairman of LAPP.

The expansive, 134,000-square-foot warehouse with high-bay storage offers ample space to effectively manage LAPP Tannehill’s inventory of LAPP plus 200+ additional leading brands of wire, cable, and electrical connectivity products. The warehouse enables optimized picking and additional automation for parts inventory management and retrieval systems, enhancing speed and efficiency.

Whether it's handling larger volumes, accommodating new product lines, or expanding into new regions, the flexibility of the new logistics center ensures that LAPP Tannehill can meet evolving customer needs while also passing on cost savings due to more efficient logistics operations.

What does this mean for LAPP Tannehill customers?

Faster Shipping: With the addition of the new Lapp Logistics Center, we now guarantee 1–3 days shipping on almost all orders in the continental U.S. – speeding up delivery times for all eligible LAPP Tannehill customers. We also ship in-stock products within 1-2 business days in most cases if the order is in before 3:00pm CT Monday-Friday (by 1:00pm CT on Fridays that fall between Memorial Day and Labor Day).

Efficient Order Management: The new facility enhances capabilities for customer value-added services as it has two industrial re-spooling machines dedicated to LAPP Tannehill customers for faster and more efficient order management.

Faster Lead Times and Service: The vast size and new capabilities of the facility, including automated warehouse picking, ensures quicker order processing times and reduced delivery and service times.

Convenient and Expanded Logistics: The addition of this new, centrally located facility to LAPP’s logistics network streamlines processes for LAPP Tannehill customers. The new distribution center hub is conveniently located near a significant portion of our customer base, resulting in improved transit times to these locations.

Increased Product Availability: LAPP Tannehill having a dedicated warehouse space at the new Lapp Logistics Center provides our customers with readily available inventory of LAPP and non-LAPP products. Our customers can explore vendor-managed inventory solutions where inventory can be placed directly in the new warehouse space for faster cycle times.

Inventory Management Solutions

LAPP Tannehill offers their customers customer-managed inventory (CMI) and vendor-managed inventory (VMI) as inventory management solutions.

CMI: Our Quick Pick Scanner Program makes it easier for customers to manage their day-to-day operations with the use of a scanning device to replenish inventory.

VMI: With additional space dedicated to LAPP Tannehill at the Lapp Logistics Center, this opens more opportunities for customers to stock their inventory on our shelves as opposed to their own.

Both CMI and VMI contribute to cost savings by enhancing inventory accuracy, reducing waste, and improving overall supply chain efficiency. The choice between CMI and VMI depends on the specific needs of customers.
