Copper & Raw Material

We experienced a $.73/lbs increase in Comex copper
during the months of July-September. Comex closed
at $2.865/lb on July 1 and closed at $3.5935/lb on September
27th with comex monthly averages of $3.0476 for July, $3.3107 for
August, and $3.4988 so far for September. Camden copper
increased from $3.21/lb to $3.73/lb during the same time period.
Due to a shortage of Teflon, we are seeing lead
times for some PTFE products getting pushed out to 15-17
weeks. Based upon this information, Lapp Tannehill
is taking steps to maintain adequate inventory of our
stock items.

Dear Monica,
"The pursuit
of green profits has become a legitimate--and successful--business
activity"
This is an excerpt out of a
Forbes business article and it very succinctly describes a growing
trend in industries all over the world. Like many companies,
Lapp Tannehill continues to invest and pursue opportunities in the
renewal energy sector both because it is the right thing to do as
well as because it is the smart thing to do. Working with
many of our outstanding manufacturers, we continue to add to our
arsenal of new products; customized to meet the needs of the
growing renewable energy industries, as well as the increased
emphasis on other eco friendly markets such as mass transportation,
electric vehicle production and fuel systems.
We appreciate you viewing our
newsletter, which highlights our solar product initiative in
conjunction with our participation in the upcoming Solar Power
International Show in October. If we can be of any value or
assistance in this area please let us know.
Thank you again for taking time
out of your busy schedule to view our newsletter, and of course
thank you very much for your business.
Sincerely,
Mark Babcock
President

Photovoltaic Wire
Some of the greatest benefits to the sun's power are
that it is pollution-free and inexhaustible.Today's economy is
almost completely reliable on fossil fuels like oil, coal and
natural gases. However, they are nonrenewable resources
with an expiration date, and help to create much of the world's
pollution. Solar energy will last indefinitely and has a zero
effect on the world's pollution. In short, the sooner
we switch to using renewable energies, the cleaner the air we
breathe and water we drink will be for us, and for our
children.
The emergence of the PV wire standards has replaced
USE-2 wire as the choice for solar module
interconnections. First, PV wire can be rated at 600V,
1KV or 2KV voltage levels. Next, PV wire can be used in
both grounded and ungrounded PV arrays. PV wire also has a thicker
insulation/jacket giving it more abrasion and mechnical
protection. PV wires must comply with the most stringent
sunlight (UV) resistance and be flexilbe at the extreme lower
temperature.

Tannehill and our suppliers:
